DIY code description for: Mitsubishi airbag code B1499 collision decision.
Hi Dan here from vehix411.com.
Today I’m working on a Mitsubishi. We have an airbag light on.
And when we scan it, and try to reset it,
we go to the airbag system, and we have this code, B1499,
Control Unit Collision Decision Active. What this means is the
car was in an accident and it has crash data stored
in the airbag control module. And when you try to erase it
with any scan tool that you have, any scan tool,
that you want to erase it with, won’t erase it.
It will give you this routine cannot execute.
So this is the code B1499, Control Unit Collision Detected,
and it is a crash data code. Option number one,
you can replace the airbag control module. Or, if you wanna go the cheaper route,
it’s located where the gas pedal is on the right-side
center console. That is the aluminum box
with a yellow connector. That is the airbag control module.
Cheapest route to do this is by removing that computer,
make sure the battery’s disconnected and everything is off,
and send it out to karmanauto.com, and they can clear it for around $50.
Otherwise it is a bad control module, and you cannot clear
it with any scan tool.
